Adventures Are A Matter Of Perspective

With a choice one can set forth to see sights and invest moments of life within this ever-changing dance of stardust and time.

This adventure starts in Vancouver, British Columbia, early in 2014. I have been visiting a friend, attending some events, and working on my Crossing Canada With The Maplemusketeer ebook. My next destination is Hope, two hours east from the coast into the mountains. My friend offers a ride and I propose a slight modification to the trip: Eureka Falls, followed by lunch at 293 Wallace St.

Time to head for the mountains.

A Land Of Water - A Rainforest

A Land Of Water – A Rainforest

Wonder and stories await around corners unseen.

We have the opportunity and invitation to explore and discover. Whether waterfalls near Hope BC, fields and skies in Kansas City,  coastlines or deserts in Australia, or mountain paths in Switzerland, it all becomes new beneath our gaze.

This story is a unique story because it is my story.

Next time you are on an adventure, don’t just think of the destination, but share the story of your journey.

  • Where did you go?
  • Why did you go there?
  • Who were you with?
  • What did you discover?
  • How were you changed?

There are many more questions for pondering but that’s a good start. As for my friend and I? We followed our waterfall adventure up with lunch at 293 Wallace, a fine Hope restaurant owned by my friend (and sometimes adventure partner) Chef Hiro Takeda. It was delicious, as always, and a great mini-reunion of memories past and hopes for ones yet to come.

Life is a precious passing thing, and we are all collecting the stories of a lifetime.

We choose where we go, what we see, what we do.

This day, it included a waterfall.

What stories do our today’s hold? What do we want them to hold?

Follow Up Exercises

Next adventure you go on, consider the whole trip and take some photos throughout. Be it with an iPhone or a DSLR.

Curate those pictures and create a story from them, and then share the link below so I can go see!

If you don’t have a blog you can still put a collection of images together in Tumblr, Google Plus, or Facebook. If you have an iPhone you can use Steller.

I’d love to see what you come up with!

Also… did you notice that all of the photos leading up to the waterfall were in black and white, and then at the falls I shared only colour versions? What role does that play in setting the tone or affecting the mood?

If you implement any of these ideas or challenges into your next post please let me know here so I can stop by and check them out!

May you have a wonderful day!
