the state or situation of being alone.
There can be a solitude in the forest
though only of an ignorant stranger
surrounded by the quiet commotion of wonders
immune to their being
blind to the intimate
There can be a solitude in the bus depot
that of a still soul amid the bustling convergence
of stories and fables
told to others
told to self
lost in the footsteps
hidden in the chatter
buried beneath the clatter of rolling suitcase wheels
In the search for solitude do we seek silence?
In silence do we seek connection?
Must we go anywhere to do this
or does it wait in all places
to be acknowledged
